Placer County is currently accepting applications to fill a Public Works Manager vacancy in the Department of Public Works – Environmental Engineering Division. This is an exciting leadership position which includes supervision of the Environmental Resources Team. This position will manage the ongoing management responsibilities associated with the Middle Fork Hydroelectric Project, Regional Water Planning, Sustainable Groundwater Management, Special Projects, Solid Waste collection compliance and Franchise Agreements, Material Recovery Facility Operations, Environmental Review for Capital Projects, Legislative Tracking and Lobbying, and Public Outreach.
The ideal candidate has a background in solid waste management, ground water, hydroelectric/hydrology, or engineering and completed major college course work in civil engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or environmental sciences.

To plan, organize, manage, and coordinate the programmatic, administrative and operational activities of one or more functions in the department; to direct, manage, and supervise the work of assigned staff; to establish and implement assigned programs' objectives and performance standards; to serve as a member of the Department Management Team which is responsible for fulfilling the mission and carrying out the policies of the department; and to promote and participate in collaborative activities, programs, and projects that cross functional areas.
Receives general direction from the Director and Assistant Director.
Exercises direct supervision over supervisory, professional, technical, and clerical personnel.

Experience and Training
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the required specialty field in a Public Works agency, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. Advanced journey level technical experience may be substituted for up to two years of the required professional experience.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Designated positions may require major course work in specified areas of study.
Required License or Certificate:
May need to possess a valid driver's license as required by the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.
