We are seeking to fill two Connecticut Careers Trainee positions with a target class of Eligibility Services Worker in our Central Office, Revenue Enhancement Division. DCF, Central Office is located at 505 Hudson Street, Hartford, CT. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday with flexible hours.
Connecticut Trainees are be trained to fulfill the functions of an Eligibility Services Worker. An Eligibility Services Worker is responsible for evaluating and determining IV-E eligibility for all youth entering out-of-home care and performing annual re-determinations. As part of a team, you will be performing essential functions related to determining IV-E eligibility of youth involved with DCF that may result in claiming federal reimbursement under Title IV-E of the Social Security Act. A high level of attention to detail and accuracy is required to review and access financial and biographical information, while compiling necessary documentation from various resources.
Note: Eligibility for promotion to the target class Eligibility Services Worker (Salary plan SH Grade 19) is earned upon successful completion of the training program.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency this class is accountable for mastering the skills necessary to satisfactorily complete the training program for a professional position.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
In a department or institution receives training in introductory governmental work for development of skills and knowledge in field of public administration in order to qualify for advancement into agency professional positions; performs a variety of increasingly difficult duties as skills are acquired during course of training period; performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Oral and written communication skills; ability to acquire knowledge and skills required for the target classification; ability to understand, evaluate and solve problems by exercising judgement and logic; ability to read, interpret and understand written material; ability to perform basic arithmetical computations; ability to interpret charts, graphs and tables; learning and reasoning ability; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relations with superiors, associates and general public; ability to utilize computer software.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in social work, applied sociology, social and/or human services.
- Experience working in a social services or customer service organization.
- Experience using large database systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook to include creating worksheets, tables, tracking, flagging, ticklers, reporting.
- Experience working in a multifaceted and high-volume organization.
