The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is looking for experienced, passionate
GYMNASTICS CLASS INSTRUCTORS
to teach classes at our Randolph Recreation Center.
This is a non-permanent position that will work on an intermittent or seasonal basis.
Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in a 12-month period.
This position provides service to the patrons of the city of Tucson Parks and Recreation Leisure Class programs and is responsible for planning and conducting specialized skill acquisitions classes. Please note that the position of Class Instructor encompasses multiple specialized recreational areas and site locations, and many classes are scheduled on Saturdays.
Conducts instruction in a specialized area in connection with the fee instruction program offered to the public by the Parks and Recreation Department
Plans class instructional activities, prepares a course outline or a bi-weekly schedule
Supervises the activities of program participants to ensure participant safety during the instructional process
Adheres to applicable Parks and Recreation procedures, rules and regulations; completes required forms and activity records and reports; communicates with the parents of school age participants, as needed.
Provides leadership and instruction in beginning to advanced gymnastics
Responsible for supervising 8-10 participants
Minimum Education Level & Type: 6 months post High School
Minimum Experience Qualifications: 1 year and over in a specialized recreational area
*Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
All candidates must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification and pass a background screening upon hire
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the response to the supplemental questions.
The highest scoring applicants will be placed in the "Best Qualified" and "Qualified" band (grouping) and provided to the hiring department for a selection decision. An applicant’s placement on the list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:
