The Department of Transportation is seeking a highly qualified, dedicated, dependable, motivated and customer-oriented professional to join their engineering team. The Construction Material Inspector inspects and evaluates the quality of materials used on construction projects and determines compliance with engineering standards and specifications.

nspects field projects by
investigating project sites, observing construction procedures, and
testing and sampling materials required to ensure proper procedures are taking
place.
Conducts laboratory tests on
construction materials by performing proctors, sieve analysis and sand
equivalency on native soils, bedding and asphalts for compliance with
engineering standards and specifications.
Maintains equipment and
laboratory by calibrating field and laboratory equipment and ensuring
proper functioning and safe use of tools, gauges, compactors, and
vehicles.
Creates reports to summarize
test results and coordinates with plant quality control personnel and
plant operators to conduct asphalt plant inspections.
Minimum Education Level & Type: 6 months post High School
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 1 year Inspecting construction materials for compliance with engineering standards and specifications
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will be invited to participate in a virtual oral board interview:

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List. An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:
· 10% of your rating for education and work experience
·90% of your oral board

This recruitment will establish a civil service
list that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next 6
months.
Veterans, Native
American, or Disability preference points will be added to the final score for
those that are placed on the Civil Service Employment List. If you qualify
