For Water Department only: conducts site assessments and research by contacting the client investigating tampering or possible illegal water connections, detecting and isolating leaks, determining usage patterns, performing water audits, installing low-flow fixtures, teaching irrigation system maintenance and balancing irrigation schedules, calculating water budgets and following through on investigations and assessments.
Installs locking devices and conducts follow-up field work.
For Water Department only: enforces codes by conducting site assessments, contacting the responsible parties, reporting on and inspecting meter tampering, taking photographs, discussing the violations with the customers, determining if a citation is warranted, requesting issuance of citations, scheduling court hearing dates, presenting evidence and testimony at hearings and assisting the magistrate in determining the correct fines to assess.
Processes and manages account collections by advising customers on delinquent accounts, requesting payments or arranging payment schedules.
Provides community and educational outreach by setting up information booths at community events, distributing and explaining educational materials, and making presentations to schools and community groups.
Provides information, proposals and input to supervisors, prepares reports and letters, reviews codes, conducts phone contacts, compiles and maintains electronic or paper records.
For Environmental Services only: services customers with container information: size needed, price structure, frequency of collections, recycle containers, special pick ups, compactors.
Refers customer complaints to appropriate channels.
Executes contracts for initial entry and renewal.
Enters information into computer database.
Minimum Education Level & Type: 6 months post High School
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
Water Department:
At least 2 years of experience enforcing city codes and ordinances and resolving problems related to water connections or flow.
OR
Environmental and General Services Department:
At least 2 years of experience with servicing Environmental Services customers' needs.
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in an oral board.
Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List. An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:
This recruitment will establish a civil service list that may be utilized to fill vacancies occurring at Tucson Water within the next 6 months. Virtual Teams hiring interviews may be conducted post-list.
