The Tucson Water Department is seeking a qualified and motivated leader to serve as a Stores Superintendent within the Maintenance Division. This position will be responsible for the operations of 5 Tucson Water Storerooms (8 FTE) throughout our service area with a daily ready inventory of $5.5M. In addition, this position will also oversee the City of Tucson’s mail delivery operations (3 FTE).
This position is classified as safety sensitive and may require after hours, weekend and holiday work based on business necessity.
Regularly directs or supervises the work of at least one fulltime employee at the supervisor level and three Mail Clerks in the section.
Coordinates assigned supervisory personnel and their projects ensuring timely and quality activities for the benefit of the section, division, department, City and the community.
Oversees the planning, implementation, direction and management of all five storeroom and mail delivery operations and resources of the section to achieve the strategic objectives of the department and the City in an efficient and effective manner.
Assists with the implementation and evaluation of department policies, programs, projects and procedures.
Assists with implementing the department vision through section activities and leads the section to maximum employee productivity and morale through hiring, disciplining, evaluating employee performance, investigating, and resolving grievances and other coordinating human resources actions.
Develops and administers the section budget with staff assistance.
Analyzes organization and community needs, analyzes trends, reviews statistics and opportunities, communicates to the department leadership of impending developments.
Develops strategic partnerships and contacts with community representatives, external agencies, and other organizations to develop a sense of relevant issues facing our community and to respond as a representative of the City.
Implements the values of the organization through example and accountabilities.
Ensures that section operations conform with local, state, and federal governmental regulations and other applicable rules and requirements.
Facilitates solutions to problems facing the department.
Maintains technical or professional knowledge through such means as attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, taking classes and participating in developmental activities.
Manages storeroom and mailroom activities by developing and implementing work procedures, resolving operational problems, preparing of the unit budget, distributing and modifying purchase orders, ensuring the accuracy and completion of documentation, authorizing the destruction of expired records and supervising delivery schedules and procedures.
Monitors ordering, inventory and daily distribution documentation, checking inventory procedures, and verifying and authorizing all inventory adjustments via Tucson Water’s Enterprise Asset Management System
Minimum Education Level & Type: Associate's Degree
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least two (2) years supervisory experience in computerized warehousing operations
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License
An equivalent combination of education and relevant-level experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions may be considered.
