The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a highly qualified, dedicated, team-oriented individual for a
TRADE SPECIALIST - CONSTRUCTION MAINTENACE
to assist with maintaining and repairing equipment at Parks and Recreation facilities.
Installs equipment or materials in facilities, parks and their surrounding areas by planning, layout, assemble and installing of equipment, playground components, concrete tables, grills, benches, bleachers and concrete slabs. Install and repair fabric fencing, signs, bollards, cable fence, swing gates, and sidewalks
Operates pickup, dump, crane, flatbed, and hydraulic lift trucks with flatbed, box, and hydraulic trailers to transport loads of equipment, materials, and green waste debris. In addition, operates backhoe, power chipper, stump grinder, skid steer, forklift, concrete cutter, soil tamper, chain saw, pole saw and assorted power tools. Uses shovels, rakes, hula ho, concrete finishing tools, and assorted hand tools
Maintains and repairs facilities and surrounding areas by performing inspections, troubleshooting, repair broken / vandalized equipment or fixtures, maintain grounds from trip hazards, perform tool maintenance, pick up litter and remove graffiti when required
Maintains daily work activity task with the use of I Phone and Cartegraph management system
Required to fill out reports and forms, maintain clean work areas and fleet vehicles, responds to emergencies, and performs safety checks on equipment
Assist with the planting, removal, trimming, chipping and stump grinding of trees in the park system
Occasionally direct helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, volunteers or temporary employees in the performance of task assigned
Train personnel on safety regulations, proper use of tools and equipment
Occasionally and temporarily act in a higher capacity in the absence of supervision on job sight.
Take annual training classes online and in person.
Occasionally ask to work overtime or weekends
Minimum Experience Qualifications: High School/GED
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 2 years (24 months) of experience in maintain and repairing parks, or comparable amenities, facilities, and equipment, and pruning, trimming, transplanting, and treating trees and shrubs, or installing and maintaining irrigation systems, or maintaining and repairing facilities and equipment, or maintaining pools and aquatics equipment.
Valid and Unrestricted CDL - Class B required for Construction Maintenance Specialists, and Tree Stewards based on the weight of the vehicle and/or the transportation of HazMat
Valid and Unrestricted CDL - Class C required for Aquatics Maintenance Specialist based on the weight of the vehicle and/or the transportation of HazMat
Pursuant to A.D. 6.01-8 Commercial Driver Policy
Incumbent employees may apply for a promotional opportunity if they meet all of the position requirements except for a CDL or required CDL endorsement. An employee who does not have the required license may be conditionally selected and advised of the requirement that they obtain the required license within 90 calendar days of the conditional notification of selection. Failure to obtain the required license and endorsement within this time frame will result in the removal of the conditional selection offer.

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List. An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:
This recruitment will establish a Civil Service Employment List that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next 6 months.
