Tucson Water's Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team. The EAM team is currently working to migrate from Oracle WAM to Infor EAM and to implement the recommendations related to EAM set out in the recent Information Technology Business Operation Plan (ITBOP) effort. This is an exciting time for Water and the successful candidate will have an opportunity to help set the future direction of technology at Tucson Water.

General Description

A senior level or lead position within the Business Analyst structure. This position leverages the return on enterprise level systems by providing technical support to analyze business processes and technology requirements.

Essential Functions

The essential duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as technical lead for implementations, maintenance, and upgrades on enterprise level applications. 
  • Analyzes departmental business issues and data challenges, elicits requirements from management and internal customers to develop functional and system configuration specifications utilizing technological solutions.  
  • Develops, tests and implements new systems or modified system enhancements to meet changing requirements.  
  • Performs daily systems duties to include loading data and generating reports, ensuring system. applications processed in a timely manner and solves daily production system problems as they occur.  
  • Performs maintenance and makes modifications to reference tables in enterprise level applications.
  • Creates complex non-routine queries and maintains a variety of system reports, scripts, workflow, and automated tasks using structured query language and various database management tools.
  • Advises on system capability, compiles data, and implements data driven decisions and strategies for management.  
  • Troubleshoots end-user, functional and technical problems.  
  • Serves as liaison with Information Technology, departmental staff, and vendors to evaluate, test and support new functionality, developments, and enhancements of enterprise level applications.  
  • Plans and publishes monthly calendars and fiscal year end schedules.  
  • Monitors and approves system security, updates, and maintains system security records and permissions.  
  • Creates procedural documentation and provide training to end-users.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 5 years of experience in technical support involving ERP or large database systems.

Valid and unrestricted Class D - Driver’s License

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of this position may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the above minimum qualifications and additional relevant experience in the areas of:

  • A strong working knowledge of enterprise class relational databases, e.g. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2 and the interaction of enterprise applications with their respective databases. (Note: Desktop database applications such as Microsoft Access or Open Office Base do not fulfill this requirement).
  • Strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to convey complex technical material to non-technical users in a friendly and non-threatening manner.
  • A curious and innovative attitude and the desire to constantly look for ways to improve processes to resolve business issues.
  • A strong working knowledge of Business Intelligence software, e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Crystal Reports.
  • A strong working knowledge of Office 365 suite of applications.

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profiles and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in a Writing Exercise.

  • Writing Exercise will be emailed no later than 4:00 pm (Tucson time) on July 16, 2021
  • Deadline to return completed assignment is 12:00 pm (Tucson time) on July 19, 2021 

The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in a Virtual Teams Oral Board Interview.

  • Virtual Oral Board Interviews will be held the week of July 26, 2021

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List.  An applicant’s ranking on the Civil Service Employment List will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:

  • 10% of the rating for Education and Work experience 
  • 40% of the rating for Writing Exercise 
  • 50% of the rating for the Oral Board Interview

This recruitment will establish a civil service list that may be utilized to fill vacancies occurring at Tucson Water within the next 6 months. Hiring interviews maybe conducted post list and prior to final selection.
