Introduction

The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is looking for fun, energetic, and enthusiastic

SPORTS RECREATION WORKERS

to assist with Summer Track & Field programs, Road Races, and specialized Summer Events.

General Description

This is a non-permanent position that works on an intermittent or seasonal basis.

Individuals in this classification may not exceed 1,300 hours in a 12-month period.

This is a recreation worker position for our track and field events, road races, and special pool events. This is a great first time job to gain expereince. This position only calls for person to work three nights a week from approximately 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm. No previous experience is necessary, we will teach you everything you need to know about these events.

Track and Field events are held every Tuesday night in June and July.

Road Races are held every Thursday night in June and July

Special Pool Events are held every Wednesday night in June and July.

Essential Functions

Ability to work well with the public

Ability to write scores on a tracking sheet

Able to lift/carry up to 35 pounds

Ability to communicate well

Displays good teamwork and cooperation

Ability to work independently

Assist with special event set up

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: Less than High School

Minimum Experience Qualifications: Three months of full-time employment and/or volunteer experience involving customer contact

Special Job Requirements

At least 16 years of age at time of application

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work expereince in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will be invited to participate in an Oral Board Interview.

  • Oral Board Interviews will be held: the week of May 3, 2021

The highest scoring applicants will be placed in the "Best Qualified" and "Qualified" band (grouping) and provided to the hiring department for selection decisions. An applicant's placement of the list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:

  • 20% of your rating for Training and Experience
  • 80% of your Oral Board Interview
