Introduction

The City of Tucson Human Resources Department is seeking a qualified, detail oriented and dedicated Data Analytics professional to fill a vacancy in its Human Resources Information Systems Unit. This position is responsible for analyzing data, being responsive to reporting needs and technical issues, developing and implementing database configurations, as well as performing mass update procedures for Human Resources, Central Records/Payroll and the City Manager's Office, while assisting the Class and Compensation Team with specific analytic needs.

General Description

The current vacancy will work in the Human Resources Information Systems Unit performing a series of functions leveraging the return on enterprise level systems for the City of Tucson by providing support to analyze business processes and technology requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a Human Resources and/or Payroll setting performing analytics, as well as working with a variety of compensation plans for government and/or municipalities.

Essential Functions

Serves as technical lead on ERP-level implementations, maintenance, and upgrades.

 

Analyzes departmental business issues and data challenges, elicits requirements from management and internal customers to develop functional and system configuration specifications utilizing technological solutions.

 

Develops, tests and implements new systems or modified system enhancements to meet changing requirements.

 

Performs daily systems duties to include loading data and generating reports, ensuring system applications processed in a timely manner and solves daily production system problems as they occur.

 

Performs maintenance and makes modifications to reference tables in the ERP-level modules and systems.

 

Creates complex non-routine queries and maintains a variety of system reports, scripts, workflow, and automated tasks using structured query language and various database management tools .

 

Advises on system capability, compiles data, and implements data driven decisions and strategies for management.

 

Troubleshoots end-user, functional and technical problems.

 

Serves as liaison with Information Technology, departmental staff, and vendors to evaluate, test and support new functionality, developments, and enhancements of ERP-level modules or systems.

 

Plans and publishes monthly calendars and fiscal year end schedules.

 

Monitors and approves system security, updates, and maintains system security records and permissions.

 

Creates procedural documentation and provide training to end-users

 

Performs other project related duties and assignments as required

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education Level & Type: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 5 years of experience in data analysis and technical support involving ERP or large database systems

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position may be considered.

Selection Plan

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. Eligible applicants will then be invited to participate in a practical exam.

  •  Practical Examination will be held on June 10, 2020

The highest scoring applicants from the Practical Examination will be invited to participate in the Oral Board interviews.

  • Oral Board Interviews will be held on June 17, 2020

Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List.  An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:

  • 10% of your rating for Education and Work experience
  • 20% of your Practical Examination
  • 70% of your Oral Board Interview

This recruitment will establish a civil service list that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next 6 months.
