Monitors quality assurance and quality control activities of the Crime Laboratory to determine conformance with established laboratory policies and procedures, accreditation requirements, and/or good laboratory practices including making recommendations for corrective actions and follow-up when necessary
Controls and maintains all laboratory manuals and standard operating procedures, other quality documents and activities as they relate to the quality systems of the laboratory
Administers the crime laboratory proficiency testing program and maintains records, including the review and evaluation of the laboratory’s proficiency test performance, and recommends changes in the laboratory proficiency program when necessary
Coordinates preventative actions, quality assurance reviews and corrective actions, as well as activities of a quality assurance review panel, to investigate technical issues, conduct and determine root cause, and issue recommendations for resolution of technical issues. Monitors the effectiveness of the issued corrective actions
Organizes and monitors laboratory-wide instrument and equipment calibration and maintenance. Evaluates instrument calibration and maintenance records for all sections in the crime laboratory
Knowledge of ISO 17025 International Standard
Knowledge of AR 3125 Forensic Standard
Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance and quality control policies and procedures
Knowledge of Forensic Accreditation Websites-ANAB, CTS, AFQAM, OSAC, Guiding documents for forensic science
Knowledge of audit and assessment practices
Overall knowledge of eight forensic disciplines in the crime lab

Minimum Education Level & Type: Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least six (6) years in forensic laboratory work. At least three (3) of the required six (6) as a Criminalist II/III equivalent
