Handles transports and delivers liquid Sodium Hypochlorite throughout service area.
Monitors chemical treatment equipment, makes repairs and operation decisions. Responds to alarms and emergencies. Performs facility checks for any unusual operating conditions; monitors and controls equipment associated with disinfecting production and distribution for potable and non-potable water systems.
Collects and analyzes data by collecting samples, reading meters and monitors. Performs field analyses on samples for various parameters, and utilizes judgment in determining when or if process changes are necessary.
Adjusts repairs, cleans, overhauls, and maintains pumps, motors, controls of disinfection systems.
Performs periodic operating checks of plant equipment such as injection systems, chemical feeders, auxiliary equipment, and measuring and control systems.
Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 2 years experience repairing associated components related to hazardous chemical delivery such as pumps, motors, valves, piping, etc.
Valid and Unrestricted CDL - Class C with HazMat and Tanker endorsement (CDL permit acceptable for up to 60 days from hire date)
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 1 certification in Water Treatment AND ADEQ Grade 1 certification in Water Distribution are required within 12 months of hire. Failure to obtain both certifications will result in failure of probation and employment will be terminated effective immediately.
Applicants with water certifications from other states will be accepted only if the certification is eligible for reciprocity. However, applicants are required to check with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) regarding reciprocity eligibility/requirements.

The following information pertains to driving requirements for this classification with the City of Tucson. Under "Driving Level" None, Secondary or Primary, refers to the driving responsibility as it relates to the essential functions of the classification. License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Exceptions to classification driving requirement's may exist based on position.
