This is a lead position affording guidance to other positions performing the same tasks. This lead position also reviews workloads, assigns work and coaches employees with specialized instructions and practices for job accomplishments.Lead personnel may contribute to other employees' performance evaluations, assist with the hiring process by interviewing and making recommendations and providing input to supervisory staff.
Conducts high bill investigations; identifies and recommends methods to customers for reducing water usage.
Reviews meter access problems and hazardous conditions and recommends appropriate solutions.
Inspects water meter installations for compliance with department specifications and coordinates corrections with contractors.
Investigates water service conditions, including meter leaks, pressure problems, unauthorized connections and damaged meters.
Assists in the efficient design and sequencing of meter reading routes.
Performs meter service work including turn-ons and offs, meter replacements, delinquent collections and locks, replacing or resetting meter boxes.
Installs fire hydrant meter and backflow assemblies and tests for proper operation.
Records meter readings, utilizing a hand held electronic meter reading device.
Reads maps and plans to identify operational and service conditions.
Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or G.E.D
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 3 years servicing and reading meters, including responding to emergency customer requests
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License
