This is a senior position. It differs from other positions in the classification series by performing tasks at a proficient, accomplished level and handling the more difficult, complex or irregular tasks. Individuals in senior positions typically assist in setting priorities for work and are asked upon occasion to use judgment to solve unusual problems.
Creates and maintains drawings by examining construction plans, survey data, maps and other documents, consulting with internal and external parties, using computer programs or drafting equipment to produce detailed drawings and graphics, creating various conversions and digital drawings and making modifications as needed.
Provides assistance to customers and personnel by answering telephones, assessing callers' needs, conducting research, providing information and technical advice to customers and other departments, creating various drawings for other departments and providing back up assistance to personnel as needed.
Orders supplies, oversees maintenance of office equipment, recommends equipment purchases, plans and monitors work flows, monitors for quality control, develops new procedures, provides assistance with special projects, prepares forms, reports, correspondence, and billings, performs field visits, keeps logs, creates, maintains and updates files, enters information into the system, trains personnel, maintains databases and collects fees.
Calculates water pressure.
Works with Geographic Information System software in conjunction with department databases to design and produce maps and calculations on request.
Queries databases to extract specific records.
Maintains digital Geographic Information System records in databases reflecting information on engineering plans, development plans, and work orders.
Provides assistance to internal customers by using computer software to design and produce presentation materials in multiple formats.

The following information pertains to driving requirements for this classification with the City of Tucson. Under "Driving Level" None, Secondary or Primary, refers to the driving responsibility as it relates to the essential functions of the classification. License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Exceptions to classification driving requirement's may exist based on position.
