*Base pay is $19.17 plus $2.00 per hour differential (certain employees may qualify)     

Definition

THE JOB: Under direct supervision, the person in this position is responsible for assisting cooks with the preparing and serving nutritious meals for residents and employees of a County Correctional Facility (Jail or Juvenile Hall). Other duties are the caring for equipment, utensils, supplies and work areas. They may be asked to do other work as required. There is an immediate need for extra-help (temporary) employment in our Correctional Facilities. (Assignment is scheduled to end March 31, 2021)

Training and Experience:

No specific training or experience is required, we will train you.

Knowledge:

• Some knowledge of office/kitchen procedures and practices.

Abilities:

• Perform clerical/kitchen work involving a degree of independent judgment and requiring speed and accuracy.

• Quickly learn the specific operations of the office/kitchen to which assigned.

• Understand and follow oral and written directions.

• Operate standard office/kitchen equipment.

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the public and others.

• Make simple arithmetic computations.

• Spell correctly.

• Write neatly and legibly.

• Maintain simple records.

• Do alphabetical filing.

• Exercise discretion and judgment in caring for materials transported and kitchen equipment. Adjust schedules to meet
  changing priorities (required for some positions).

• Type at a moderate rate of speed (required for some positions).

• Lift up to 40 or 60 pounds (required for some positions).

• Stand for long periods of time (required for some positions).

• Work in a noisy environment (required for some positions).
