MWRD's Internship Program offers paid internship positions. While the main focus is on wastewater management, there are opportunities to gain knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of functions in each department.
Paid Interns
Paid interns are limited to 119 working days per calendar year and receive $18.00 per hour. They do not receive benefits or paid days off.

Description:
The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is searching for a current student for the Collection Facilities section of the Engineering Department. The Collection Facilities section is responsible for the assessment, analysis and design of the District's collection system. The intern duties will include learning about coordination of underground utility and protection, reading contract plans, utilizing GIS and post award engineering work such as estimating, submittal review, and field inspection. The intern will work closely with other Engineers and Draftsman. By the completion of the internship, the intern will have gained valuable experience working in an engineering design office environment.

Educational Requirements:
Applicants must be a current college student seeking a degree in civil/environmental engineering. Other engineering majors are encouraged to apply. Completion of second year of engineering courses, preferred.
