MWRD's Internship Program offers paid internship positions. While the main focus is on wastewater management, there are opportunities to gain knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of functions in each department.
Paid Interns
Paid interns are limited to 119 working days per calendar year and receive $18.00 per hour.

Description:
The Monitoring and Research Department of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (the District) is seeking an intern to support its analytical laboratory operations. The intern will work under the supervision of an Environmental Chemist, analyzing wastewater and environmental samples using analytical instrumentation and established standard operating procedures.
The intern will gain experience in the operations of an IEPA‑accredited laboratory, including quality assurance and quality control practices, data reporting requirements, and proper sample handling from receipt through disposal using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Applicants must be a current graduate or undergraduate student seeking a degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Sciences.
