Introduction

MWRD's Internship Program offers paid internship positions. While the main focus is on wastewater management, there are opportunities to gain knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of functions in each department.

Paid Interns

Paid interns are limited to 119 working days per calendar year and receive $18.00 per hour. They do not receive benefits or paid days off.

Required Documents:

  • Letter of recommendation from a class instructor, professor, or Internship Coordinator from current school or university.
  • Cover letter stating interest in position.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Enrollment in a degree-seeking program in an accredited college or university.
  • Permanent residency within the territorial boundaries of the MWRD (students may attend school outside the territorial boundaries).
  • You must be a citizen or national of the United States, or an individual who is otherwise legally authorized to work in the United States.

Description:

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District is seeking an intern in the Monitoring and Research Department. The intern will work with District staff, primarily on biolsolids and the Nutrient Loss Reduction Research at the District's Fulton County site. The intern will be involved in field sampling of soil, water, and plant tissue and other measurements at the various research studies including biosolids and struvite P fertilizer, cover crops, bioreactors, and drainage water studies. The intern will learn research operations in the field and obtain skills regarding the use and maintenance of sampling equipment.

Other duties will include entering data in spreadsheets and generating a report which the intern will present to District staff at the conclusion of the internship. This will help the intern gain some computer, data processing, and technical writing skills.

  • Good written communication skills

Educational Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program majoring in agricultural science, biology, chemistry, or agricultural business.
  • Has successfully completed one year of college courses.
