Introduction

MWRD's Internship Program offers paid internship positions. While the main focus is on wastewater management, there are opportunities to gain knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of functions in each department.

Paid Interns

Paid interns are limited to 119 working days per calendar year and receive $18.00 per hour. They do not receive benefits or paid days off.

Required Documents:

  • Letter of recommendation from a class instructor, professor, or Internship Coordinator from current school or university.
  • Cover letter stating interest in position.
  • Resume

Eligibility Requirements

  • Enrollment in a degree-seeking program in an accredited college or university.
  • Permanent residency within the territorial boundaries of the MWRD (students may attend school outside the territorial boundaries).
  • You must be a citizen or national of the United States, or an individual who is otherwise legally authorized to work in the United States.

Description:

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District is seeking an intern in the Board of Commissioner's Offices. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with general administrative duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Assist with community outreach and engagement programs
  • Assist with design and execution of social media campaigns
  • Manage small projects as assigned by supervisor
  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns
  • Assist on influencer campaign strategy
  • Brainstorm and research ideas for original content
  • Create compelling graphics to share across social channels
  • Write social media captions that speak to the company's target audience
  • Develop new strategies for increasing engagement
  • Ensure brand message is consistent
  • Research policies and procedures to assist the commissioner with decision-making and developing new policies and strategies as needed

Rate of Pay:

This is a paid internship at $18.00/hr.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to/from various worksite locations

Educational Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, all majors considered
