This is a Special Appointment position with the Department of
Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS). The incumbent serves at the
pleasure of the appointing authority.

POSITION DUTIES
The Executive Assistant serves as support staff
for the Chief of Staff and the Deputy Chief of Staff. The Executive Assistant
is responsible for reviewing and handling correspondence and inquiries related
to the Office of the Secretary and Constituent Services. Additional
responsibilities include:
- Researches and compiles information as directed by the Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff
- Reviews reports and incoming mail to identify and assist in preparing correspondence transmitting items of interest or concern to various departmental staff.
- Acts as the appointment officer to schedule meetings for the Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff to attend as well as obtain the necessary documentation and information prior to the meeting.
- Serves as the direct representative of the Chief of Staff in meetings and conferences and relays all information that was transmitted.
- Serves and interacts with the Governor’s office, legislators, and other state agencies on a daily basis.
- Works on sensitive and confidential projects requiring discretion and judgment in the release of information
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
Experience: Three years of professional experience
performing clerical or customer service responsibilities
and
Two years of experience preparing
and editing written formal correspondence for distribution.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess intermediate and advanced proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Two years of experience performing secretarial or administrative duties for a criminal justice agency or law office/legal firm.
