Introduction

The Maryland Department of Labor is now accepting applications for an experienced public sector HR professional to join a growing and innovative agency. This position serves as the Deputy Director of Human Resources and will assist the HR Director in management, strategic direction and administration of the Office of Human Resources.

This position is a Management Services position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

Main Purpose of Job

To assist the Director in the management, direction and administration of the Office of Human Resources for the Maryland Department of Labor.

POSITION DUTIES

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide leadership and management of the Office of Human Resources to achieve the efficient delivery of services to all customers and stakeholders. 
  • Establish and maintain all quality standards associated with the professional delivery of personnel services while striving for error free work products. 
  • Provide the highest level of customer satisfaction, actively seeking feedback from customers/stakeholders on customer satisfaction and proactively acts to enhance or adjust the delivery of services to achieve and improve customer satisfaction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Experience: 3 years of experience supervising Human Resource employees

Notes: Candidates may substitute a Masters degree in Human Resources Management or Public Administration for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and thorough understanding of Maryland HR statutes and regulations

Ability to exercise sound judgement 

Ability to maintain confidentiality

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (Department of Labor/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to Department of Labor/DUI as a result of unemployment overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
