POSITION DUTIES

The Compliance Division is currently recruiting for a Tax Compliance Auditor in the Tax Investigation Unit of the Compliance Programs Section. Duties include but are not limited to auditing complex Federal individual and business income tax returns to determine if the income, expenses, and deductions are reported correctly, conducting financial audits of various sources of digital income such as NFT's, crypto currency, etc., preparing letters to taxpayers requesting the complete Federal return with all attachments along with information specific to the K-1, PTE, Form 1065 and Form 1120 for the tax years in question as well as responding to taxpayer inquiries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing.

Experience: None.

NOTE: Applicants who had met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
  2. Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
