Main Purpose of Job

The Deputy Finance Director is a management services position with the Developmental Disabilities Administration. This position ensures that all policies and procedures are followed while overseeing the daily management of the Administrations budget and projection operations. This position also supervises the Administrations Rate Setting and Federal Billing Units. This position is responsible for overseeing the fiscal activities of each of the four DDA regional offices throughout the State of Maryland. This position also involves supervision of the Expenditure Management Plans, Quarterly Projections and Budget.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or a bachelor’s degree and 30 credits in accounting and related courses including 3 credits in auditing; and, six years of accounting /financial management experience, including three years at a supervisory level.

A CPA certificate or a master’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration will substitute for one year of general experience.

Applicants who met the CPA exam admission requirements prior to July 1, 1974 will meet the above educational requirements.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Experience in the State of Maryland Budgeting and Financial management\
  • Experience with the State's Financial Management Systems, (ADPICS and FMIS)
  • Experience with DDA's internal fiscal processes
