Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Database administration and planning and development duties including but not limited to:
- Monitor database performance and perform routine maintenance;
- Perform database backups and recovery;
- Install, configure, patch and maintain Oracle
software on Unix environment focusing on Red Hat Linux platform;
- Manage the file system on Red Hat Linux
platform;
- Configure and maintain Oracle Data Guard and
Oracle Audit Logs;
- Implement CLIENT database security standards
for Oracle database environment;
- Assist developers and DBAs in detecting
performance problems including analysis of SQL; and PL/SQL code;
- Diagnose and resolve: data problems for system users; data storage
problems; data access problems; and data software problems;
- Perform system analysis of existing database
system and recommend strategies for improvement and migration into Oracle; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Two years of experience, designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and controlling database management systems for computers and, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or maintaining and modifying operating systems for computers.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology-related field to include course work in database management systems for the of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or maintaining and modifying operating systems for computers.
2. Candidates may substitute two years experience operating computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on computer systems; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages on a year-for-year basis for graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology related field to include course work in database management systems for two years experience designing, developing, implementing, maintaining and controlling database management systems for computers for the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Database Administration classifications or Database Administration specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference
will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred
qualification(s). Include clear and

5+ years of professional experience as an Oracle DBA
Significant experience with Oracle 12c and 19c architecture
and database design on Linux
Experience with development and other solution teams on DB
architecture and design
Knowledge/experience in writing and optimizing SQL and
PL/SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions and views
Knowledge/experience with Oracle Multitenant architecture
(CDB/PDB)
Experience with backup, recovery, patching, upgrades,
tuning, capacity planning and optimization of database environments
Experience using Oracle Data Guard
Knowledge of Oracle database administration on ODA
platforms
Working knowledge of Oracle database Enterprise Manager and
Oracle certifications such as OCP or OCM
Experience working with law enforcement databases
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
In accordance with
Section 2-204(b)(6) of the Public Safety Article, candidates for position in
this classification will be subject to an initial drug screening and a complete
criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before
permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for
rejection of the candidate.

the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification.
Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information

categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain
eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination.
The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees. The list will
