POSITION DUTIES

This position is responsible for controlling and evaluating fiscal, environmental, and quality operations in assigned facilities. As such, the Regional Nurse Manager will be:
  • Serving as the lead resource for the administration and evaluation of nursing practice and the environment of care. This includes supervising, consulting, and educating nursing staff;
  • Ensuring operational efficiency and consistency in healthcare services are being implemented and delivered according to DJS policy, DJS Health Services Operational procedures, DJS Nursing Protocols, and DJS Standards of Conduct at assigned facilities;
  • Providing indirect supervision of assigned medical units, ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations regarding nursing practice and operational policies and procedures of DJS; and,
  • Managing 24-hour operations and clinical nursing care at one (1) or more facilities. May also have central administrative duties for generic programs.

*The schedule for this position may involve working rotating shifts.

**This position will involve traveling to multiple site locations within the region, as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two (2) years in the Medical option and one (1) year in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession a Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the Medical option for the required education and experience.

2. Candidates may substitute six (6) years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include three (3) years in a supervisory, administrative or teaching capacity in the Medical option for the required education and experience requirements.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate for this position will possess the following:

  • At least one (1) year of work experience coordinating and supervising across multiple secure residential juvenile facilities/settings

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
