Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to serve as the Deputy Director for the Bureau of Family Health Services within the Healthy Families Administration of the Anne Arundel County Department of Health. This position provides administrative supervision for Bureau programs and staff of approximately 130 professional, managerial, clerical, and service personnel and an annual budget of over 12 million dollars. Bureau programs include Maternal and Child Health, SQI, Asthma and Lead Environmental Case Management, WIC, Dental Health, REACH (Residents Access to a Coalition of Health), ACCU (Administrative Care Coordination Unit), and Eligibility and Enrollment (MCHP ), Medical Assistance Transportation, and AERS/Nurse Monitoring.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

Experience: Six years of health or human services administrative or professional experience, including two years at a supervisory or managerial level

Notes: 
  1. Master's degree will substitute for one year of the general experience.
  2. Doctorate will substitute for two years of general experience.
  3. Additional experience will substitute on a year-for-year basis for the college degree.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate selected for this position should possess the following desired qualifications:
  • Experience with budgets and procurement
  • Experience working in the public health field 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Supervisory experience as a program administrator
  • Experience with planning, preparing, and monitoring grants
