LOCATION OF POSITION
POSITION DUTIES
This position works directly with leadership to
identify gaps and services needed to improve and inform population health
strategies, develop innovative and strategic initiatives and interventions that
contribute to the body of knowledge regarding best practices. This position
promotes the work of the Local Health Improvement Coalition (LHIC) and Howard
County Health Department through frequent contact with departmental leadership,
staff and external partners and agencies. This position will use strong leadership
skills and engage partners, stakeholders and staff to create and move forward
special initiatives and programs as directed by the HO/DHO. This position will
lead in capacity-building and implementation of special projects. This position
also serves as Deputy Director of the Bureau of Assessment Planning and
Community Engagement, supervising and directing overall activities and budgets
in the Health Promotion and LHIC programs.
This position is eligible for hybrid telework.

- Provides fiscal oversight as appropriate and reviews and approves budgets; allocates bureau funding and resources to meet performance measures and agency goals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling, or a related field.
Experience: Six years professional experience in health services, three years must have been in Health Services professional clinical or administrative services in areas other than Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities or Addictions and four years must have been at the managerial or supervisory level.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree or Doctorate degree in a health or human services field from an accredited college or university for up to two years of the required general experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus an additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the required education.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Health Services Administration specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
