Introduction
The Maryland Department of Agriculture is a department under Maryland's Executive Branch. Formed in 1972 by the Maryland General Assembly to address the agriculture needs for the State of Maryland. The Department oversees and serves as a regulatory body for animal health and consumer services to include marketing and lab services, plant and pest management, and resource conservation. As the number one industry in Maryland, the diversity of agriculture programs in the State continues to expand and grow.
This job posting is for two vacant positions in Central Services Automotive Garage: Automotive Services Specialist and Automotive Services Supervisor. Central Services coordinates the various activities for the Maryland Department of Agriculture.

Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Schedules routine service and repairs of automobiles and trucks in coordination with assigned drivers.
- Conducts electronic engine analysis and performs specialized diagnostic tests on engine parts.
- Tracks and conducts semi-annual inspections on all vehicles assigned to MDA.
- Ensures maintenance records are completed for all vehicles and records are kept on file.
- Performs oil changes and lubrication, tire repairs and replacement, tune-ups, engine analysis.
- Conducts mechanical and structural repairs on automotive engines, all-terrain vehicle engines and backpack unit engines.
- Conducts and maintains regular inventory of stock parts such as tires, batteries, oil, spark plugs, filters, rags, nuts, bolts and screws, etc.
- Supervises all activities of the Annapolis automotive maintenance facility, including but not limited to recordkeeping, repairs, and maintenance.
- Plans and implements the preventative maintenance program for approximately 310 motor vehicles, 3 large trucks and various equipment.
- Supervise personnel including training, coaching, approving work time and leave, performance evaluations and discipline.
- As a working supervisor, performs repair and maintenance alongside the Automotive Services Specialist as detailed above in the Automotive Services Specialist position duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of ASE certification
Experience performing general maintenance on motor vehicles and equipment
Experience performing major repair work on motor vehicles
Experience supervising employees
