POSITION DUTIES

The Content Moderator works for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS),Intelligence and Investigative Division’s (IID), Analytical and Technical unit. The position supports the DPSCS correctional facility tablet/communication program for incarcerated individuals in our custody. The Content Moderator reviews text messaging, photographs, and audio content received and sent. Reviews content received and sent through incarcerated individuals-state-issued tablets, that may be deemed inappropriate. Screen content for messages that contain sensitive and explicit material involving expressions that are discriminatory, offensive, abhorrent, or graphic. Monitors calls for safety and security concerns, as well as, investigatory pertinent information. Escalates questionable findings to the Intelligence Manager or Assistant Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Experience using various computer and web-based social applications in a professional environment 
2) Fluently Bilingual (reading, comprehending and interpreting more than one language)

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
