Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time position will be to provide administrative support for the Division of Community Engagement and Policy (DCEP). This position will support and enhance the flow of work and monitoring of grant funding streams received from federal, state, and local resources in the Division of Community Engagement & Policy at St. Mary’s County Health Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work. 

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  1. Grant Management Experience
    1. Experience in effectively managing and overseeing grants from federal, state, and local resources. This includes a demonstrated ability to develop and submit accurate and timely grant reporting documents.
    2. Familiarity with grant budgeting processes, ensuring that budgetary spending aligns with planned grant activities and complies with regulatory requirements.
    3. Proven ability to work collaboratively with fiscal offices to track and manage grant funds, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
  2. Administrative Support and Coordination
    1. Strong administrative and organizational skills to provide comprehensive support to the Division Director and various program units within the Division.
    2. Experience in coordinating and facilitating communication among multiple program staff and units, ensuring the seamless flow of information and collaborative efforts.
    3. Proficiency in managing requests for proposals (RFPs) from community organizations/sub-recipients, including the ability to assist in their development, evaluation, and monitoring.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
