Main Purpose of Job
The Outreach Coordinator
supports the Marketing and Public Engagement efforts of the Department of
General Services. The primary responsibility of the Marketing and
Public Engagement Unit is to effectively promote, bring awareness to, and
increase participation in General Services’ programs. The Outreach Coordinator
will support this effort by completing a variety of administrative tasks and
planning activities related to coordinating, hosting, and attending a variety
of events including instructional, educational, networking, and promotional
events. This position will also support the Director of Marketing & Public
Engagement in the completion of other tasks and activities related to marketing
and operations, as needed.
POSITION DUTIES
Duties
for this position include but are not limited to:
- Performing administrative tasks such as responding
to inquiries from internal and external customers, ordering and receiving event
supplies and materials.
- Coordinating, maintaining, and tracking all
public engagement and outreach activities including educational, promotional,
instructional, and networking events, workshops, and conferences by utilizing databases,
spreadsheets, logs and reports.
- Presenting virtual events and meetings.
- Participating in project workgroups or sit on
committees as requested.
- Identifying opportunities to promote programs,
resources, and services through outreach and educational events.
- Transporting event equipment, materials, and
supplies to and from events.
- Event set-up and break-down including exhibit
and marketing equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Reviewing, formatting, analyzing, and
interpreting data extracted from various sources.
- Keep abreast of relevant regulations, policies,
laws, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

SELECTION PROCESS
It is important that you provide

The examination for
this position will consist of a rating of your education, training and
experience related to the requirements of the position. Successful
candidates will be placed on the employment eligibility list categorized as
BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED. The eligibility list will
be valid for one year and may be extended. The list will be used by the
hiring authority to select employees for interviews. Eligible lists may be used to fill future vacancies
of the same classification.
Please note, selected candidates may be required to
complete and successfully pass a State and Federal fingerprint background check
prior to being hired.
You must be legally
authorized under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act to be
hired in the position for which you apply.
BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work
for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare
Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours
a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized
health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual
employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your
medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have
enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost
for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental
death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible
to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a
contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12-month period. This leave
accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours
per calendar year.
