Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Provides technical support and
assistance to MSP personnel involving the coordination of incoming calls for
technical service for the Division Helpdesk, personally handling calls for
service for password resets of the Online Data Management System (DMS), Power
DMS, and Active Directory (AD), email password recovery, and documentation of
calls for service into the appropriate computer network applications and data
bases creating, assigning, and closing remedy tickets as appropriate.
CJIS, METERS, NCIC and NLETS
related duties to include: Entry and retrieval of data into METERS/NCIC;
Monitoring and processing of NCIC $8 notifications based on established
guidelines; Monitoring and processing of incoming/outgoing METERS/NLETS
messages from all MS and Maryland law enforcement agencies; Monitoring and
processing of NLETS messages from around the nation and Canada; Processing of
violations of the NCIC "Hit Confirmation" policy by Maryland law
enforcement agencies; Sends METERS/NLETS messages for all divisions and units
of the Maryland State Police compound.
A PCST in this position is
required to provide assistance, instruction, guidance and technical support to
supervisors, administrators, managers, PCO's and dispatchers.
APCST in this position may be
required to train a new/junior PCO/PCST.
Other duties as assigned by
supervisory or command personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years experience performing communications services through the Maryland Electronic Telecommunications Enforcement Resource System and National Crime Information Center System.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Operations Specialist classifications or Signal Corps, Cyberspace Support, or Communications specialty codes in the communications field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications
1) Experience performing
quality control compliance work in automated law enforcement and criminal
justice systems.
2) Experience providing
technical assistance to end users to resolve problems with computer hardware
and software.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants are subject to an extensive background investigation prior to appointment.
2. Employees in this classification may be required to work on weekends and holidays.
SELECTION PROCESS
