Introduction

Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a regional PBS affiliate that broadcasts throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT operates a full-service advertising agency, called the Maryland State Ad Agency (MSAA), which serves the needs of the Maryland State agencies seeking to communicate important  messages through public service announcements and advertising. Campaigns include messaging about substance disorders (such as opioids), problem gambling, Covid-19, state trooper recruitments and the state's 988 suicide and crisis lifeline.

Main Purpose of Job

The MSAA Account Representative is responsible of the overall representation of the Maryland State Ad Agency (MSAA) a, division of Maryland Public Television (MPT) to prospective and current clients including capabilities presentations, overseeing the agreement process, explaining how parties work together, building project budgets, underscoring value, keeping a watchful eye over deliverables, overseeing reporting and ensuring repeat business through client servicing activities. Additional responsibilities include developing marketing goals, strategies, and tactics and following up on leads. This is a Special Appointment position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

POSITION DUTIES

· Set goals, strategies and tactics to support MSAA goals.

· Plan and execute presentations for other state agencies.

· Develop interagency agreements.

· Maintain accurate client records and service logs

· Act as primary point of contact, building and maintaining relationships with other state agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, business administration or a related field

Experience: Five (5) of experience in business development or a related field

Candidates may substitute experience for education on a year for year basis.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position. Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
