The Department of Public Safety and
Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important

POSITION DUTIES
This is a Special Appointment position that serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.
The main purpose of this position is to examine, analyze and interpret
accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted
accounting principles in order to modify and maintain agency accounting
systems. Employees may supervise the work of fiscal accounts clerks and related
support personnel.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Manages and monitors Financial Management Information System (FMIS) reports related to accounting functions withing the agency and provides inquiries with departmental fiscal unit or vendors for information regarding postings.
- Prepares and inputs accurate and complete journal entries in FMIS.
- Reconciles and processes all expense account reports for travel-related reimbursement, credit cards, including travel that is funded through CCBC-Essex Fund, equipment purchases and other agency expenditures through that fund.
- Responsible for reconciling petty cash.
- Reviews and tracks grant awards and activity.
- Reviews and prepares billing detail for officer uniforms issued.
- Oversees and reconciles inventory in eIMS for materials and supplies to include: office supply, janitorial supply, maintenance supply and officer uniforms.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three (3) credit hours in auditing.
Experience: Three years of experience examining, analyzing and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles.
Notes:
- Candidates may substitute a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with thirty (30) credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three (3) credit hours in auditing, for the required education.
- Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.
- Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a Master's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military services experience as a commissioned officer in the Accounting Officer classification or Financial Management specialty codes in the Accounting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) or other accounting software.
- Experience with conducting and maintaining fixed assets inventory.
