The
Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is an executive agency whose
primary task is to support young people involved in the juvenile justice
system. By law, the Department of Juvenile Services is a child-serving agency
responsible for assessing the individual needs of referred youth and providing
intake, detention, probation, commitment, and after-care services.

The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is dedicated to transforming young lives, creating safer communities, and fostering equitable systems. We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of the Administrator IV (Multimedia Storyteller), so come join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS!
The primary purpose of this position will be to lead content planning and execution for multimedia, including video and photography creation that connects the mission of DJS to target audiences through strategic messaging campaigns and engaging storytelling.
Some key responsibilities of this position may include, but not be limited, to the following:
● Manage, plan, and develop all digital production.
● Draft compelling stories that advance the mission of the agency through scriptwriting, social media narratives, and blogs.
● Create and edit graphics through editing software (e.g. Adobe Suite, Canva, etc.)
● Research and compile data to support DJS branding and strategic messaging tactics for storytelling.
This position is eligible to work a hybrid telework schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree in communication or journalism from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience
in communications, journalism, or content creation focused on storytelling
through digital, visual, audio, social media, or other multimedia platforms.
Note: Candidates may substitute an additional 4 years of the required
experience in place of the bachelor's degree to qualify.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
● Demonstrated
experience managing an organization's social media profiles
● Advanced
experience with digital photography and video editing equipment and editing
software
● Proven
proficiency in writing
● Experience
at the local, state, or federal government level
