The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is dedicated to transforming young lives, creating safer communities, and fostering equitable systems. We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of Program Manager, so come join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS!

The main purpose of this position will be to provide coaching and support to case management specialist supervisor and case management program supervisors in the region. This position will involve ensuring special initiatives are implemented in the region and coaches the other supervisors in the region on the implementation and adherence to supervision models.  This position will be a key asset to the regional director when needed for covering duties in the region.

POSITION DUTIES

Some key responsibilities of this position may include, but not be limited, to the following:

Responsibility #1

Employees in this classification are responsible for directing programs unique to DJS mission and operations and which are not found in other agencies. Employees in this classification have supervisory or managerial responsibility for the work of other employees in the Skilled or Professional Services.

 

Responsibility #2

Provides coaching and support to Case Management Specialist Supervisor and Case Management Program Supervisors in the Region. This position provides support to the Regional Director when needed for covering duties in the region.

 

Responsibility #3

Additionally, they are responsible for ensuring special initiatives implemented in the Region and coaches the other supervisors in the Region on the implementation and adherence to supervision models.

 

This position is eligible to work a hybrid telework schedule

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in social/behavioral sciences, criminal justice or related fields

Experience: 5 years of progressive experience in youth programming, staff leadership/supervision, and program development, with a clear progression of responsibility. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate for this position may possess any of the following qualifications:

  Advanced degrees or specialized experience (senior management, data analysis, grant writing, Rewire and Probation Transformation)

 Master's Degree (Social Work, Public Admin, etc.) often preferred or can substitute for some experience

Budget and contract management, stakeholder engagement, knowledge of DJS policy or juvenile justice best practices
