Introduction
The Maryland Military Department (MMD) is looking for a candidate to

work schedule from 6:30 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Friday and
will have free parking available on site.

Main Purpose of Job
The Compliance Officer serves as the principal authority for the Agency Internal Controls
Review (ICR) program. This position is responsible for the systematic evaluation of
agency operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to state and federal regulations.
The incumbent will develop and revise agency policies, leverage technology to improve
workflows, and conduct complex investigations into allegations of employee misconduct.
Additionally, the position will oversee agency-wide MOSH safety compliance and provide strategic recommendations to the Appointing Authority on the eradication of waste, fraud,
and mismanagement.
POSITION DUTIES
Position duties include but are not
limited it:
· Develop and recommend new standards,
methods of operation, and technology to accomplish the agency mission.
· Conduct investigations on employee
misconduct, waste, fraud, and abuse.
· Conduct safety inspections of agency
operations and field activities for compliance with Maryland Occupational
Safety and Health (MOSH) and submit written reports to senior management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited
high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six (6) years of administrative
staff or professional work experience.
Notes:
1.
Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours
from an accredited college or university for each year of the required
experience, for up to four (4) years.
2.
Candidates may substitute a bachelor’s degree
plus two (2) years of administrative or professional experience for the required
experience
3.
Candidates
may substitute a master’s degree for five (5) years of the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces experience
involving staff work (administration, policy, or unit operations) for the
required experience on a year-for-year basis.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
·1 year of experience conducting investigations on employee
misconduct.
·1 year of experience conducting investigations of waste, fraud, and abuse.
·1 year of experience conducting safety inspections in compliance
with MOSH (Maryland Occupational Safety and Health).
·Experience
serving as a primary or principal authority for an Internal Controls Review
(ICR) program
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which
require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties
will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the
State of Maryland with less than 5 points to operate a state vehicle.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees must be able to successfully complete a State and Federal
background check.
