Introduction

The Maryland State Department of Education is dedicated to supporting a world-class educational system that prepares all students for college and career success in the 21st century. With excellent stewardship from our divisions, we oversee State and federal programs that support the needs of a diverse population – students, teachers, principals, and other educators throughout Maryland. As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES
- Register users including CE providers, MER providers, medical and educational record providers for the ERE website and provide comprehensive training.
- Develop strategies for increasing the volume of medical evidence and educational records received electronically.
- Develop and maintain relationships with consultative examination providers, treating physicians, and health information management staff at hospitals and clinics.
- Maintain current knowledge of SSA’s existing electronic platform used to exchange medical evidence and school records.
- Educate providers on options for receiving requests for evidence and submitting records to the DDS.
- Monitor electronic outbound requests.
- Identify problems with electronic inbound transmissions.
- Coordinate updates to the Disability Case Processing System.
- Analyze data and conduct studies of transmission problems.
- Participate in DDS marketing initiatives and community outreach/education activities.
- Educate school liaisons on the information needed to adjudicate childhood disability claims.
- Provide training to new and current DDS staff on issues pertaining to electronic initiatives.
- Independently coordinate the preparation, publication, and distribution of the annual MRO newsletters.
- Oversee new projects designed to increase electronic medical evidence submissions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience providing technical assistance and resolving technical or communications issues.
- Experience with customer service and troubleshooting.
- Experience with training or professional development.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
