MSD REGISTERED NURSE - Substitute

A Registered Nurse is the full performance level of work providing direct nursing care to students at the Maryland School for the Deaf. This is a 10-month school year, on-call substitute position.

Administer medications (via oral, topical, inhalation, and injection) as prescribed for medical conditions or injuries.  Assess, evaluate, and monitor students' current medical and emotional health status and identify nursing needs of students.  Maintain accurate and adequate records of nursing care and observations and treatment according to established procedures.  Maintain student health center facility.  Provide auxiliary duties as needed.  On-call nurse substitutes must be available on an on-call basis.  This is a contractual position.

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.

Experience: None.

Pediatric, school, or camp nurse experience desirable.  Experience with or willingness to learn American Sign Language (ASL).

Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.
