Introduction

As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES
- Review medical evidence to establish existence, severity, onset, duration and remendability of impairments.
- Analyzes the sufficiency of medical evidence to evaluate disability in accordance with Social Security Regulations.
- Assesses impairment severity and describes functional limitations imposed by impairments.
- Prepare written opinions and assure the integrity of the decision based on electronic medical evidence.
- Provide guidance and instruction to staff in medical specialty area.
- Review Consultative Examination (CE) reports for accuracy, completeness and deficiencies in content.
- Participate in the development and implementation of training for examiner staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Doctorate degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Applicants for this classification must be certified by an American Medical Association Specialty Board in an area of medical specialization.
