POSITION DUTIES
The incumbent will learn to ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant administration of all payroll-related financial activities for three payroll systems. This includes managing payroll disbursements for Regular payroll, University of Maryland payroll, and Contractual payroll; processing payroll transactions in R*STARS that affect agency budgets. The incumbent will learn to perform comprehensive reconciliations across payroll processes and tax withholding accounts, ensure timely tax payments to federal and other state governments, resolves account discrepancies through research and communication with other state governments. The incumbent will learn to balance year-end reporting control totals, audit internal production jobs related to employee corrections, complete federal, state, unemployment wage reporting, tax filing, and payment reconciliations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.

1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with thirty credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours auditing, for the required education.
2. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience using Microsoft Excel, Basic Knowledge and Experience in Workday and R*STARS, Payment Processing, General Ledger, and Reporting.
