POSITION DUTIES
- Accounts Payable Invoice Processing and Review-Creates payment vouchers for invoices received by the Agency by reviewing for compliance, researching discrepancies, and requesting payment by the MD General Accounting Division (GAD). These duties require a working knowledge of GOD's laws, internal controls, and guidance regarding invoice payment, and MD State Travel Regulations; as well as the Department of Information Technology's (DoIT) guidance for using R*STARS and ADPICS to make proper disbursements and adjustments. The incumbent will also learn to serve as liaison with vendors, Agency program personnel, and fiscal control agencies to resolve billing and accounting records and systems problems as well as credit card limit issues. Required AP accruals are reported by the incumbent during FY close-out.
- Employee Expense Reimbursement Review-Learns to perform the initial audit of expense vouchers and required supporting documentation for compliance to State Travel Regulations by checking such items as the viability of supporting receipts and approved travel documents, use of accurate funding, accuracy of mileage calculations, and validity of the vendor in the State's vendor table. The incumbent will also maintain the Agency's expense voucher and Working fund databases, produce reports on demand, and create vendor maintenance requests as needed by requesting the required information from employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.

1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with thirty credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours auditing, for the required education.
2. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.
