POSITION DUTIES
The IT Systems Technical Specialist will serve on a systems engineering team that is responsible for a wide array of both on premise and cloud-based technologies. This person will perform basic and advanced server and systems management; will ensure the functionality, security, and operations of a complex and well-functioning hyperconverged infrastructure. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Working independently and with a team to monitor systems, identify and resolve technical problems, conduct enterprise applications, infrastructure, and system administrative tasks.
- Providing support for installation, configuration and management of enterprise applications, server and communications software and hardware.
- Maintain and proactively monitor Enterprise applications and their respective infrastructure components.
- Collaborate with business users, IT teams, and vendors to provide technical support and troubleshoot incidents related to Enterprise Applications.
- Creating and maintaining computer network domains and required configurations, management and monitoring systems. This includes deploying, maintaining, and supporting enterprise technologies such as Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft O365, Nutanix, Windows/Linux servers, networking protocols, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), and associated systems.
- Manage accounts, email and security access for users and devices.
- Performing routine maintenance of servers and systems. Demonstrating a knowledge of and understanding of Zero-Trust Models, security defenses, and AI technologies.
- Following established processes for backup and recovery of data systems. Reading and follow established system and support documentation; create and edit documentation as required.
- Demonstrating a knowledge of and adherence to IRS, Statewide and agency information security policies, procedures and standards; attend and participate in information security training sessions.
- Keeping abreast of new technologies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Seven years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software.
NOTES:
- Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology for four years of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and one year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software for four years of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include coursework in application, communication, database or operating systems software technology and three years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining application, communication, database or operating systems software for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Computer Systems Operations classifications or Computer Systems Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Five years of professional IT experience in a Systems Administration / Server Administration role.
- Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with virtualized server environments.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.
