POSITION DUTIES

We are seeking a motivated Computer Network Specialist Trainee (Tier II) to join our IT team. This position is designed for individuals with foundational IT support experience who are ready to advance their skills in troubleshooting, system administration, and enterprise-level technologies. The trainee will work under supervision, handling escalated issues and gaining hands-on experience with advanced IT service desk operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and resolve escalated tickets from Tier I technicians
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues
  • Assist with Active Directory administration, including user accounts and group policies
  • Support enterprise applications and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Perform workstation imaging, deployment, and configuration
  • Document solutions and contribute to the knowledge base
  • Collaborate with other IT teams for incident resolution and project support
  • Ensure compliance with IT security standards and best practices

PLEASE NOTEITD is responsible for the 24x7x365 support for ADC mainframe, distributed systems, and networks. All ITD employees are available for on-call support. As such, this position is required to occasionally work an off-hour schedule, weekdays prior to 7:30 a.m. and / or after 5:00 p.m., weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Eighteen months of experience converting data from project specifications by preparing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools; planning, installing and maintaining data communications network lines and devices; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software.

NOTES:

  1. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and fifteen credit hours in systems analysis and applications programming using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools for the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and completion of a certification program in Network Administration, such as Certified Novell   Administrator (CNA), Microsoft Certified Product Specialist NT 4.0 Administrator or equivalent certification program for the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree in computer information technology, management information systems or other information technology related field, including course work in local or wide area computer networks, from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Network Analyst classifications or Network Integration and Management specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1–2 years of IT support experience (Tier I or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and ITIL-based workflows.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • One year experience supporting client-server applications in an enterprise environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Familiarity with Windows 11.
  • Experience with any Help Desk Ticketing System.
