Introduction

The Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) is located in Hunt Valley, MD. We are a State agency charged with conducting fair and timely hearings in 500 different types of cases for over 30 State agencies.

We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented professional with exceptional multitasking capabilities and a strict adherence to confidentiality protocols.

The salary will be dependent on experience but general range is $56,824 to $60,304 annually. (State salary guidelines do apply for current state employees within budgetary allowances.)

LOCATION OF POSITION

Hunt Valley, MD (not telework eligible)

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this job is to provide administrative support to the Director of Finance & Administration and other areas as needed including assisting the Chief Administrative Law Judge. Responsible for investigating, responding to problematic hearing requests; managing the incoming and outgoing mail for the Department of Finance & Administration; logging fee payments for hearing requests and miscellaneous fees daily; accounts receivable duties; fleet management; ordering supplies/furniture and other duties that serve as a backup for the Office Coordinator; supporting and acting as a backup for administrative functions within the Department of Human Resources; serves as Maryland Charity Campaign coordinator, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

One year of accounts receivable experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience creating, editing, reviewing and processing correspondence

- Experience processing incoming and outgoing mail.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
