Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Supervises the program and exercises independent judgment and analysis to interpret complex administrative plans and policies for the Board. Manages the daily activities of the Board in executing its mandate to examine, qualify, license and regulate licensees and inspectors. Exercises independent judgment and responsibility for the overall Board program, including independent analysis of operations, procedures, organizations, and systems and recommends improvements.
- Responds to all correspondence and contact with the Board by applicants, licensees and citizens, and assists in the preparation of final reports and suggested improvements for the advancement of the program. Participates in the formulation, establishment or modification of program goals and objectives through analysis of alternatives, trends, available resources, and projected program needs. Participates in the program planning process by developing forecasts, proposals or procedures for orderly growth and expansion of the Board and its’ mission. Answers walk-in, telephone and e-mail inquiries from professionals about the status of their applications, their eligibility for licensing, and requirements of the laws and provides appropriate forms. Makes independent decisions based on the policies, laws and regulations for the Board. Manages and resolves customer issues and problems with applications for licensing filed over the Internet and telephone. Provides direct, in-person support to applicants and consumers visiting to the office.
- Confers with other administrative officials, program heads, staff specialists or others in order to exchange information pertaining to the program or interpret policies or offer recommendations, and advises departmental officials regarding administrative practices, procedures or policies. The incumbent coordinates inter-agency transactions and acts as a liaison with officials in other agencies, in the State, legislature, federal government, private industry, or local government agencies.
- Develops and disseminates updated information to maintain the accuracy and utility of the Board’s website. Provides input as needed for updates and posting of notices and communications to licensees and citizens as well as professional organizations. Has contact daily with the public to interpret applicability of all laws regulations and policies governing the Board.
- Prepares statistical and special reports for review by the administration and correspondence for the Division leadership, Secretary and/or Governor’s office.
- Develops regulations and interpretation for the needed entities. Works with the staff of the legal department and the division and develops legislative proposals and implements enacted legislation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
