Main Purpose of Job

The Comptroller of Maryland has an exciting opportunity for a Videographer/Photographer/Editor. 

The Videographer/Photographer/Editor will capture professional photographs, videos, and audio for internal and external agency events. They will also produce photography and video creative for public and employee consumption in support of the agency's mission, brand, and strategic initiatives.

Do you have exceptional creative skills and production capability that is able to capture the attention of viewers in a meaningful, effective, appealing and appropriately engaging way through the use of still photographs and videos? 

If you are a team player, possess creative skill, take your craft seriously, have a service excellence spirit and consistent professional disposition, and have at least 3 years of demonstrated professional experience as a photographer, videographer, and editor, then this may be the opportunity for you.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

  1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalence evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Cinematography, Communications, or a related field
  • At least three years of professional experience in photography, videography, and video editing
  • Demonstrated experience filming, directing, and editing video, supported by a professional portfolio
  • Proficiency with industry standard software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut
  • Skilled in operating DSLR cameras, video and audio gear, and lighting equipment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, creative environment
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and a strong sense of creativity and visual design
  • Knowledge of current design principles, marketing trends, and best practices
  • Experience balancing and delivering multiple high-priority projects simultaneously

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
