Main Purpose of Job

The Revenue Administration Division of the Comptroller's Office is recruiting for a Revenue Administrator II for the supervisor position on the Questionable Returns Detection Team (QRDT).

QRDT is responsible for reviewing and performing research on questionable returns, utilizing available tools and COM systems; providing assistance to victims of identity theft and tax preparers that experience a client data breach; making referrals for audits, and preparing case referrals to the Comptroller's Field Enforcement Division.

The main job duties will include direct supervision to a team of Revenue Examiners and Revenue Specialist I’s, in the review and adjustment of suspected fraudulent returns in GPE using BobJ/Data Warehouse, MeF, Portal, SMART (for taxpayer history). This position will also participate in meetings with FDBI and COM’s fraud contractor (Fire Horse Services), ISAC, FTA and other collaborative groups, as directed.

This is a telework eligible position after successful completion if a 6 month probationary period.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Five years of professional work experience in auditing, accounting, tax law, general management, or customer service.

Notes:

  1. Candidates may substitute the possession of an associates degree for two years of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for four years of the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute 30 college credits from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience up to three years of experience.
  4. Candidates may substitute graduate education in an academic field related to the required experience from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  5. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License for the required experience. 
  6. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a non-commissioned officer in accounting and budget classification or accounting and budget specialty codes in the tax examining field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and experience in the review, adjudication, and adjustment of suspected fraudulent returns.
  • Knowledge of state and federal tax forms, laws, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience working in COM Systems, including GPE, BobJ/Data Warehouse, MeF and
  • Service Now.
  • Proficient working in MS Suite of Applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience leading training (one-on-one and group settings).
