Introduction

The Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) oversees and coordinates all components of the statewide EMS system in accordance with Maryland statute and regulation. This includes planning, operations, evaluation, and research. MIEMSS provides leadership and medical direction, conducts and supports EMS educational programs, operates and maintains a statewide communications system, designates trauma and specialty centers, licenses and regulates commercial ambulance services, and participates in EMS-related public education and prevention programs.
MIEMSS is seeking a Multimedia Specialist.

POSITION DUTIES
The Multimedia Specialist will provide Media Production (audio, video and digital imaging production), Media Services (Event audio, projection, video and presentation support) conference equipment support expertise, and art production within the Media Services and Public Information Department of MIEMSS.
This role will also create educational and public awareness content that educates clinicians and the Maryland public furthering MIEMSS goals of eliminating preventable deaths and disabilities due to sudden illness and injury.
Position Duties Include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide video production and directing, camera operation, and digitizing of original footage in the studio and on location. Apply expert lighting, sound, and camera direction to properly capture subject matter. Provide non-linear digital and creative editing techniques to multi track and sequence projects. Projects are produced for education and training, documentaries, and public awareness. Examples of projects may include Public Service Announcements, documentaries, medical training, and archival events.
- Provide digital imaging (Photography and in some cases video), shooting, and editing for studio portraits, and EMS in real-life situations. This includes rescues and care for the injured, training, simulations and drills, educational and public information events, award presentations, and news. Apply specialized studio and location lighting and backdrop techniques to render media for digital editing using professional software tools and techniques for image creation, integration and enhancement. Maintain data access and organization on servers.
- Graphically design and create textual, still and motion graphics that enhances the meaning, messaging, and instructional concepts for education and training content as specified in partnerships with instructional designers or content experts for the use in instructional environments.
- Provide technical expertise and consultation for events and conferencing to include audio-visual design, projection, computer interface, presentation support, online and hybrid environments, and streaming content.
- Provide facilities management and organization of the recording, print, and art studios. Maintain inventory that includes video, audio, lighting and photographic equipment; printer equipment and supplies; art materials and supplies for picture mounting and framing. Provide inventory control, ordering supplies and equipment, trouble-shooting, and general repairs when needed. Upkeep inventory and purchasing software information.
- Travel for meetings and conference, and evenings and weekends may be required for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to two years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
- Experience with Adobe software for media production, graphics, audio, video, and print.
- Experience with conference and event media support.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
