Introduction

The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), is seeking an experienced and energetic individual to fill the position of Administrative Officer III in the Office of Student Financial Assistance.

POSITION DUTIES

This position assists with the management and maintenance of the Maryland College Aid Processing System (MDCAPS), ensures the accuracy and integrity of data used to award and disburse financial aid, and provides high-quality data analysis and reporting to inform program decisions and policy. This position supports the delivery of timely and accurate data for official state reports-including Joint Chairmen's Reports (JCRs) and annual legislative reports-while contributing to system improvements, financial aid forecasting, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to two years of the required experience. 

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor degree in public policy, business administration, information systems, data analytics, higher education administration, or a related field.


2 years experience with:

2. Experience working with financial aid programs, 

3. Experience working with higher education data systems

4. Experience in data analysis 

5. Experience in system administration

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: For education obtained outside the U.S. you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education by a foreign credential evaluation service.
